Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society is the only national organization for high school juniors and seniors that recognizes excellence in the field of Social Studies. Members are nominated by their Social Studies teachers, and must have a minimum of 3 years of coursework in Social Studies with a 3.0 average in those courses, must demonstrate good citizenship on campus and in the community, and must complete a minimum of 10 service hours per year toward Rho Kappa projects. Rho Kappa provides national recognition and opportunities for exploration in the social studies.
Rho Kappa members have the opportunity to train and serve as docents at the Indian Springs Hotel, sharing local history with visitors to this important historical site in our own county. Additional projects include supporting other Butts County Historical Society activities, working with the Korean War Legacy Foundation to preserve veterans' stories from our nation's forgotten victory, and to host/compete in regional competition for the National History Bowl.
