Congratulations to Laura Barabas, Destiny Hill, & Connor LaChappelle, who represented our team in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida at the 2018 National Tournament!
The JHS Speech & Debate Team competes from September through March in a variety of events, including individual and team debate; informative, persuasive, and impromptu speeches; and several oral interpretation events. We host the Red Devil Rhetoric Tournament every January, welcoming several hundred competitors, coaches, and parents from as many as 28 schools around the state. We have been represented at the NSDA's national tournament in 2011, 2012, 2016, 2017, and 2018. Our head coach, Mrs. Laura LaChappelle, was named the 2018 Georgia Speech Coach of the Year.
